Meet the Administrators

I am honored to be the 10th-grade administrator at Fort Lauderdale High School and look forward to a fabulous year. Fort Lauderdale High School is a special place with opportunities for all students to go above and beyond what they thought possible. Personalizing the high school experience for all students is my top priority. From the highly academic to the gifted artist to the motivated athlete…there is a place for everyone to find their passion and succeed. I want parents, students, and staff to feel supported and validated as we work together towards the ultimate goal…preparing our students for their future.

     Mrs. Gallagher grew up in Miami, Florida, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a Journalism Minor from East Carolina University. She went on to earn her Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Mrs. Gallagher has been an English teacher, reading teacher, staff development specialist, and literacy coach in Broward County. She started her administrative career at Northeast High School and has served as an assistant principal at the high school, alternative school, and technical school levels. She has two sons. One is currently working towards his doctorate degree at The University of Florida and the other graduated from UCF and works and lives in Melbourne, Florida.

     Mrs. Gallagher's Administrative Assignments are Master Schedule, Graduation, ESE, and Testing.

     Fort Lauderdale High School exemplifies mutual respect for all and character development in the context of our daily lives. My goal for every student of FLHS is for them to be empowered. This will allow all students to be self-sufficient and prepared to play a meaningful role in our society while achieving richer and fuller lives in our communities and country. It is of the utmost importance for every student at FLHS to graduate, pursue their dreams with passion, and most of all, become a valued member of society.

     Ms. Thompson's Administrative Assignments are  Science, Discipline, Facilities, and student accidents/incident reporting.

     I am hoping that at FLHS (and Amazon), it's always, "Day 1." When speaking to a group of Amazon managers, Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos explained that Day 1 represents enthusiasm, an entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, positivity, re-birth, among other things. He also speaks of the dangers and pitfalls of Day 2. He stated that "Day 2" at Amazon is stagnation, lethargy, steady decline, and ultimately the end of Amazon. I'm not asserting that Fort Lauderdale High school should resemble Amazon. But Bezos and I share a common belief that we should always enter each day with the characteristics synonymous with Day 1. So, the idea of Day 1 is not actually about Day 1 at all. It's about Days 2 through 180. Will students still bring the same hopes and desires of the upcoming year with them every day? Will they be able to get a high grade, succeed on the field or court, an amazingly popular school-wide event, and set their sights higher? When they have led a meaningful program on campus, will they start the next day on something even bigger and better? And, on the flip side, will they be able to shake a bad grade, get over a loss, or mend their broken heart in a way that will build resilience and allow them to face each day with renewed vigor? My hope for our students this year is that no one allows their successes or their failures to blur the opportunities in front of them. Break new ground each day, build on successes, and mold failures into learning opportunities. If that happens, we'll never have to worry about Day 2 FLHS! Fort Lauderdale High School- where it is always Day 1!

     Mr. Rodriguez's Administrative Assignments are Social Studies, Transportation, and Band.
